Michael and Mary Jancek of Mayville are the third husband and wife couple to become members of the Westfield-Mayville Rotary Club.
Inducted in December by Membership Chair Don Dowling, the Janceks are relatively new to the area having moved to Mayville from Minnesota two years ago. Michael Jancek was born and raised in Erie, Pa., however. He completed training and certification for the Grief Recovery Institute and has worked for 15 years as a Licensed Professional Counselor, or LPC, in Minnesota. He currently is licensed in Pennsylvania.
Having grown up in Minnesota, Mary Jancek received her Bachelor of Art in nursing from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn. She has worked as a Hospice and Parish Registered Nurse in Minnesota.
Membership Chair Don Dowling, left, welcomes Mary and Michael Jancek to the Westfield-Mayville Rotary Club. The Janceks are two of the four new members for the club in 2012.
Currently, both belong to a Franciscan Order with the Independent Eucharistic Catholic Church in Toronto, Canada. They also have worked with Native American Ministry through Fargo, N.D., community churches.
"I am looking forward to participating in projects with Rotary and getting to know people in the community," Mary said.
"I believe that Rotary and Franciscan values are closely aligned," Mike said. "They are about reaching out and helping people."
Should anyone be in need of grief recovery, they are welcome to call him at 224-1014.
The Janceks' membership is part of a total of four new Westfield-Mayville Rotary Club members for the 2012 year. Anyone who does business in Westfield, Mayville, Brocton, Sherman or Ripley areas are invited to become a member of Westfield-Mayville Rotary, a non-profit organization supporting efforts to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational and cultural exchange programs.
For more information about membership, contact Dowling at 326-4478. In addition to individuals, corporate memberships also are available. International Rotary's motto is "Service Above Self" and is what members live by.
