WESTFIELD - Westfield Academy and Central School recently hosted a mini yearbook workshop with Brocton Central School.
Westfield business education teacher and yearbook adviser Kimberly Abbey contacted Brocton's advisor, Stephanie Brash, early in September to see if they needed football pictures for their book.
"The bond just took off from there," Abbey said. "We had been emailing back and forth about deadlines, photos, pages, etc ... and I thought 'wouldn't it be great if both classes could get together?' So, I got approval to invite her and her class to my class."
Students working on the yearbooks for both Westfield Academy and Central and Brocton Central Schools recently got together at WACS for a mini yearbook workshop.
Students had lunch in Abbey's room while getting to know each other and what each book was like. Students shared ideas and issues while offering suggestions. Brocton students were able to see the layout of the Westfield book in production and ask questions about sections. Westfield students worked with Brocton students to see their real-time book production as Brocton students shared their pages from the online production site.
Special thanks to the Westfield and Brocton transportation departments for arranging the bus rides and WACS Cafeteria Manager Patty Benton for providing a great pizza lunch.
"It was a good day," Westfield's Yearbook Editor Sarah Kelly said. "We met some really nice girls and had some great exchanges of ideas."
