WESTFIELD - Howard F. Nichols, 40, of Cass St., Westfield was remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail on charges of driving while intoxicated, obstruction of governmental administration, unlawful possession of marihuana, failure to maintain lane, no seat belt driver, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and no head lights on Tuesday, Jan. 29.
According to the police office, officers were dispatched to a property damage accident on Clinton St., in the Village of Westfield around 7 p.m. Officers were advised a vehicle had allegedly struck multiple parked cars and a house, and the operator was allegedly fleeing the scene eastbound down Clinton St. Officers were able to catch up with the suspect who was allegedly identified as Nichols. Officers allegedly observed Nichols had multiple lacerations to his head from the accident in which he was involved. Upon further investigation, Nichols was arrested, arraigned in Westfield Village Court and bail was set. Nichols was remanded to jail and will appear in Westfield Village Court again on a later date. Additional charges are pending following further investigation.
