FRENCH CREEK - The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office is looking for assistance in the theft of a snowmobile.
According to the sheriff's department, sometime over a three-hour period between noon and 3 p.m., on Sunday, Jan. 27, someone stole a 2010 Yamaha Nitro RTX SE blue snowmobile bearing Ohio registration 5C55CE. The snowmobile was taken from behind the French Creek Tavern and was parked around numerous other sleds. The sheriff's office is looking for anyone who may have seen this theft or may have information on where the sled may be located. All information will be kept confidential. BROCTON - Adam Neubauer, 22, of Ponderosa Dr., Brocton was charged with unlawful dealing with a child and Clint Catchot, 19, of Sequoia Dr., Brocton was charged with unlawful possession of alcohol under 21 years on Saturday, Feb. 2
According to the sheriff's office, deputies were dispatched to 30 Sequoia Drive to investigate a verbal fight around 2 a.m. Upon arrival, deputies allegedly found Neubauer and Catchot both in an intoxicated state. Further investigation allegedly revealed Neubauer had purchased and gave an alcoholic beverage to and drank with Catchot, who was underage. After being separated, both subjects were issued appearance tickets to appear in court on a later date.
FRENCH CREEK - Joseph P. Ariste, 46, of Rocky River, Ohio was charged with driving while intoxicated, refusing breath test, speed not reasonable for conditions and move from lane unsafely on Saturday, Feb. 2.
According to the sheriff's office, its patrol came upon a vehicle which had allegedly driven off the roadway on Canterbury Drive near the intersection with Old Road in the Town of French Creek around 11 p.m. Ariste was allegedly identified as the operator of the vehicle. Following an investigation, Ariste was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was charged, released with appearance tickets and will appear in French Creek Town Court later.
FRENCH CREEK - Zoe A. Brooks, 20, of Latrobe, Pa., was charged with driving while intoxicated, blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or greater, move from lane unsafely and using handheld electronic device and Jesse A. Yates, 21, of Edinboro, Pa., was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI BAC 0.18 percent or greater and parking on the highway on Sunday, Feb. 3.
According to the sheriff's departments, its patrol was informed by Peak 'n' Peak security of a single vehicle crash on Old Road in the Town of French Creek around 1:15 a.m. Brooks was allegedly operating a 2009 Kia while text messaging, and she allegedly drove off the road and down an embankment into a ditch. Brooks was allegedly found to be intoxicated and was arrested for DWI. Additionally, Brooks' boyfriend, Yates, allegedly identified himself to officers and stated he arrived to help Brooks. Yates' vehicle was allegedly parked in the middle of the road at the accident scene upon deputies' arrival. A Peak 'n' Peak security officer allegedly witnessed him drive to the scene. Following an interview and investigation of Yates, he too was arrested for DWI. Both Brooks and Yates were taken into custody and transported to the sheriff's office in Mayville. Both were charged, released to a third party and are to appear in French Creek Town Court later.
