Website, toll free number established for New York Safe Act questions

Westfield Republican / Mayville Sentinel News

JAMESTOWN - The New York State Police at Jamestown would like the public to be aware of two resources available to them should questions arise about the New York Safe Act.

First is a comprehensive website, www.nysafeact.com. On this site, gun owners and licensed dealers will find a list of frequently asked questions compiled and answered by experts on this new law.

There is also a section on what is and is not considered an assault weapon. This includes photos of weapons, banned features, a list of some of the banned weapons and those firearms not considered assault weapons.

Second is a the hotline 1-855-LAW-GUNS or 1-855-529-4867 which is available during normal business hours Monday through Friday and be staffed by New York State Police Troopers. Between these two resources, the public should be able to get the answers they need.
