Maxine G. (Ottaway) Freling died on Jan. 21, 2013, at age 91.
A lifelong resident of Ripley, N.Y., Maxine was born on July 22, 1921, and was an active leader for many years in 4-H, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She enjoyed her years of membership in Home Bureau, Women's Democratic Society and South Ripley Methodist Church.
Maxine's goat milk fudge was well known in the Ripley area for many years, a homemade product sold at roadside stands in the early 1960s. In the 1970's, she and her dear friend, Evelyn Spoon, shared a love of being Beeline Clothing Representatives for home parties in the Chautauqua County area.

Maxine and her husband, Bob, traveled cross-country several times during their fulfilling retirement, wintering in Florida and spending delightful summers in Ripley.
Maxine is survived by her children, Janet Porter of Rochester, N.Y., Carl (Gayle) Freling of Canton, Ga., Nila (Bernard) Garske and Earl Freling of Ripley, N.Y., Edra (Robert) Brower of Palmetto, Fla.; her son-in-law, Dale Weber of Sarasota, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Freling; and her daughter, Ardis Weber.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the South Ripley Methodist Church, North East-Sherman Road, Ripley, N.Y. 14775 or a charity of your choice.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family in the spring. Arrangements by Alvah Halloran and Son Funeral Home in Rochester.
