PORTLAND - The New York Wine and Grape Foundation recently announced the results from the New York Wine and Food Classic, their annual New York State wine and spirits competition.
In their first year of competition, 21 Brix Winery was awarded several medals.
Thirsty Elephant, a native grape blend, was awarded Double Gold, with a unanimous vote from the judges and a score of 99. The winery's Dry Riesling and Semi Dry Riesling both won gold medals in the competition and silver medals were awarded to the 2011 Chardonnay, Gewurz-traminer, Ellatawba, Ella's Red, Raspberry and Ella's White.
The 27th annual New York Wine and Food Classic, was held in Watkins Glen. Over 700 New York wines were reviewed and graded in this blind competition.
The judging panel included wine educators, retailers, wine writers and restaurateurs from various states, as well as from France and the United Kingdom.
21 Brix Winery offers a wide range of wines to please anyone's palette. Stop by the tasting room, open daily 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., to sample award-winning wines. Private parties including bridal or baby showers, reunions, and company parties can be held at the winery as well.
