RUSSEL, Pa. - Get into shape in the New Year with Chautauqua County's roller derby team, the Babes of Wrath, as they host their 2013 Training Camp.
The program will begin on Wednesday, Jan. 2 and will run every Wednesday from 8 to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m., in January. CCRD Training Director, Megan Renard, describes the workouts as really fun.
"Women should expect a high-intensity, low-impact cardio work-out," she said. "We have a full-body workout planned that will leave them begging for more."
Chautauqua County’s roller derby team, the Babes of Wrath, is opening up its 2013 training camp as a exercise option.
Each of the nine sessions will include an off-skates portion designed to strengthen the core and increase endurance, as well as an optional on-skates portion focused on basic skating skills. There will be an alternate work-out for those who choose not to skate.
"We will teach you how to skate, even if you think you can't," Renard said.
All women age 18 and up are welcome to attend the training camp, which will take place at Russell Roller Rink on Market St., in Russell, Pa. Participants can attend all nine sessions for $35 or $5 a session. Skates and equipment will be provided, and no skating experience is required.
