Sherman school teacher donates poster

December 12, 2012
Westfield Republican / Mayville Sentinel News

Tammy Hawkins, a Sherman Central School art teacher, recently created a poster for the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars in the Department of New York to use on a project that will benefit their Cancer Aid and Research Program.

Members of Ladies Auxiliaries across New York State were asked to make a donation "In Lieu of Christmas Cards." The signed poster will be sent to troops serving overseas. The poster includes the motto chosen this year by Robin Giles, department president, "All Aboard for Our Veterans," along with a motto from Leanne Lemley, national president, "Serving from the Heart for our Veterans." Debbie Cenni, editor of the Auxiliary News, and Karen Mack, Cancer Program chairman, said more than $1,000 was raised from the project.
