WESTFIELD - Gary M. Green, age 75, of Franklin St., Westfield died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at home following a brief illness.
Gary was born on Sept. 18, 1937, in Batavia, N.Y., the son of the late John and Anna (Adams) Green.
He was a graduate of Corfu Central School in Corfu, N.Y., and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education and Master of Science degree in reading education from SUNY Fredonia.
Gary was a member and past president, librarian and co-chair of the Chautauqua County Weavers Guild, a member of the Chautauqua Chapter of American Guild of Organists and served as dean, sub-dean and instructor at Pipe Organ Encounters, a program introducing children and adults to the pipe organ. He had also given private piano and pipe organ lessons. Gary also held membership with the New England Historic Genealogical Society, a resource for extensive genealogical research conducted over 50 years and was also a member of Jericho Lake, Inc., a private area in Darien Center, N.Y., where the family cottage was located. He served in the National Guard for two years.
He retired from Westfield Academy and Central School in Westfield, N.Y., as an elementary school teacher in 1992 after 21 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Justine Elaine (Ferguson) Green whom he married on July 11, 1959; his son, Jonathan David Green (Lynn Marie Buck) of Normal, Ill; and his sister, Gail (Harvey) Stalker of Batavia, N.Y.
