The Westfield Senior Citizens meet on the second Thursday of the month at the YWCA Westfield at noon.

Parkinson's support group at Absolut Care

The Absolut Care of Westfield's Parkinson's Disease Support Group Meeting is held the second Thursday of the month in the Absolut Care Activity Room from 4 to 5 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 10

Annual Veterans Day dinner

VFW Post 6764 at 34 Pearl St., Westfield is celebrating the U.S. Marine Corps birthday and holding its annual Veteran's Day dinner on Saturday, Nov. 10. Posting of Colors will be at 3 p.m., and hors d'oeuvre, theme music social hour and cash bar will last until 5 p.m., followed with Veterans Day remembrance remarks and dinner at approximately 5:30 p.m. USMC ceremonial cake cutting will follow. VFW members, their families and Auxiliary are all welcome. Advance sign-up is necessary, so stop by the post or call 326-2613.

Swiss steak dinner

The Sherman Community Church, 107 Church St., Sherman, will hold its annual Swiss steak dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 10 in the Church Fellowship Hall. Take-outs are available and the hall is handicap accessible. Prices are $9 for adults and $5 for student.

Veterans Day observance

Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion from Ripley will hold their Veterans Day observance ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 10 a.m., in front of the Ripley Veterans Roll of Honor monument located at 0 E. Main St., in Ripley in front of Ripley Central School. The public is welcome. Veterans wishing to participate should arrive by 9:30 a.m., or contact Dave Bower or Bob McIntosh.

Clymer-French Creek library book club

The Clymer-French Creek Free Library is having a book club, Plots and Pizza, for children in fourth through eighth grades. The meetings will be from 5 to 6 p.m., every second Monday of the month. Library officials will discuss what types of books children would like to read for future meeting. Those who already have a new library card can call the library at 355-8823 or email to register. Those who do not have a new library card should visit the library to register. For more information, contact the library at 355-8823.

Sherman gun raffle

The Sherman Stanley Hose Company Fire Department's 24th annual Fall Gun Raffle and party will be held Saturday, Nov. 10. Doors open at 7 p.m. The event takes place at the Stanley Hose Co. Community Hall, 122 Park St., Sherman. Tickets may be purchased from any member of the Stanley Hose Company, Sherman area businesses or at the door.

Mayville Senior Citizens

The Mayville Senior Citizens Club meet on the first and third Thursdays of the month at the Mayville VFW at noon. All area seniors 55 or older are welcome. Bring a dish to pass and personal table service.

Sunday, Nov. 18

Vietnam veterans meeting

Chapter No. 459 Vietnam Veterans of America will hold its monthly meeting on Sunday, Nov. 18 at 11 a.m., at John T. Murray VFW Post No. 1017, 113 Deer St., Dunkirk. This will be the only meeting for November. All Vietnam and Vietnam-era personnel are invited.

Saturday, Dec. 1

Charity Ball

The Union Relief Association will hold the 91st annual Charity Ball on Saturday, Dec. 1 in Eason Hall, Westfield. There will be a cocktail party from 8 to 9 p.m., followed by the dance to music of the Roadrunners from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. In addition, there will be hourly door prizes. All are welcome. Tickets are available at the door or at Westfield Optical, B&C Bookkeeping, the town office or by calling 708-9331.

Parkinson's support group at WMH

Westfield Memorial Hospital's Parkinson's Disease Support Group Meeting is held the first Thursday of every month from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
