CLYMER - The Clymer Central School District have a familiar face as its interim superintendent as of Tuesday, Oct. 16.
Karen Moon, who served as district superintendent from 1998 to 2000, was appointed to the position by the board during a special meeting Friday.
Moon received her bachelor's and master's degrees and her administrative certification from Buffalo State College. After leaving Clymer in 2000, Moon became superintendent of the Newfane Central School District from 2000 to 2002. She was then superintendent at Canisteo in 2002, during which time the Canisteo district merged and became the Canisteo-Greenwood School District. She retired in 2005.
Ed Bailey had been serving as acting superintendent after the murder of former superintendent Keith Reed.
"This is a difficult time in the Clymer school and community,'' Moon said. "We will continue the goals and vision of the district as developed by Reed and the Board of Education. Reed gave this district a special gift - his leadership and ability to make everyone feel special. We will continue to strive for excellence for all students - something we know he was passionate about fulfilling."
