SHERMAN - Some Sherman community old timers and some newbies are trying to regain the seemingly waning enthusiasm and bring back that good ole Sherman Spirit.
The 2013 Sherman Day will mark the 30th anniversary for this event, and it is a goal to return to the days of old when this festivity was overflowing with activities, camaraderie and family fun, which fostered memories for a lifetime.
In order to accomplish this, the help of the entire community is needed. The Sherman Day Committee, the Chamber of Commerce and other groups and individuals are planning fundraisers and hosting events throughout the coming year. They will be asking for support in several ways, the most important of which will be attendance at these functions to show how anxious people are for the spirit to return to the community. The second way to support is to contribute to the cause, not necessarily by giving money, but by giving of time and talents.
The first event is on Saturday, Oct. 27, which will be a Halloween dinner dance. Look for posters at local merchants for more information and pre-ticket sales. There will be a silent auction at the kick-off event, and auction items are needed. For pick-up or drop off information, contact Kathy Crane at 499-7340, Vicki Rater at 761-6370 or Hazel Halter at 269-4952.
Catch the spirit and pass it on.
