WESTFIELD - The Westfield Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting the 2013 Convention for the Southwestern Association of Volunteer Firemen, or SwAVF.
This convention will take place from July 31 to Aug. 3, 2013. One of the preparations for this activity is to have t-shirts and mugs ordered using a logo representing the area of the host department. Westfield has used the same logo for the 1993 and 2001 conventions. Therefore, the department is inviting and challenging the community to design a new logo for possible use by the fire department for the upcoming convention.
This invitation is also being extended to the students of the Westfield Academy and Central School. All design ideas submitted will be judged by a committee with a prize to be given for the best design. It is important to note the possibility that the winning design may not be used for the convention. The purpose of this contest is to solicit new ideas for a logo. All designs will become the property of the Westfield Volunteer Fire Department.
Designs will need to be submitted by Dec. 10 to Jon Belcher, 111 Bliss St., Westfield. Include a full name, address and phone number. Contact Belcher at 326-4324 with any questions. The winner will be notified as soon as the judges' decision has been made.
The first t-shirt order will have to be placed around the beginning of 2013. These shirts will be sold at upcoming meetings of the SwAVF to promote our convention for 2013.
