Congressman Tom Reed will participate in three regional debates leading up to the Nov. 6 election for the 23rd Congressional District.
The debates between Reed and challenger Nate Shinagawa are scheduled for Friday, Oct. 26 at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, Sunday, Oct. 28 with the Jamestown Post Journal and Thursday, Nov. 1 in Elmira. The debate in Elmira will be aired live on WETM television. WETM broadcasts into five counties in the 23rd district.
"We have accepted three regional debate requests in Elmira, Geneva and Jamestown covering the entire district," Reed said. "I am looking forward to discussing my record of fighting for a better environment for small business job creation, reduced spending and less government."
All of the debates will be available for replay online throughout the entire district for those who are unable to watch. Congressman Reed has also agreed to a series of question and answer sessions with Shinagawa which will appear in area newspapers. "Our taxpayers deserve a representative who is going to continue to fight for job creation in Congress and push the Senate and White House to do the same," Reed said. "I encourage everyone to view the debates and read the answers and decide which candidate best represents their views as we near Election Day."
