BEMUS POINT Ross S. Briggs, 84, of Bemus Point, died Wednesday (Oct. 3, 2012) in his home.
He was born Dec. 5, 1927 in Jamestown, the son of the late Ross B. and Mary C. Zahm Briggs.
Ross was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy.

He was a retired vice president of the Chautauqua Brick Company Inc.
Ross was a member of St. Mary of Lourdes in Bemus Point, Ira Lou Spring American Legion, Bemus Point VFW No. 557, War Vets Rec., and Lakewood Rod and Gun Club.
He is survived by two sons, William "Bill" (Judith) Briggs of Bemus Point and Robert "Rob" (Linda) Briggs of Lakewood; and five grandsons, Nathan W. (Jennifer) Briggs of Bemus Point, Jon R. (Audrey) Briggs of Lakewood, Ohio, Peter D. (Johanna) Briggs of Jamestown, Stephen R. Briggs of Bemus Point and Nicholas R. Briggs of Lakewood.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Bartell Briggs whom he married Feb. 23, 1952 in Jamestown and who died Dec. 27, 2007.
A private service will be held on Friday, Oct. 5 at the convenience of the family. The Reverend Todd Remick, pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes in Bemus Point, officiated. Burial will be in the Bemus Point Cemetery. No visitation will be observed.
