Karin Cockram has directed the Westfield Recreation Department's Summer Drama Program for seven years. She has provided a wide variety of drama experiences for many young children through teenagers, adding this unique option to the recreation department's program repertoire. Her creativity, sincerity, enthusiasm and pleasant personality help make this program popular and successful.
The community and recreation department appreciate very much Cockram's time and efforts as she fits this program into her very busy life.
Cockram came to Westfield in 2005 from Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc., with her husband Steve, sons Iain and Chris and daughter Alaina, now a college freshman, high school sophomore, and eighth grader, respectively. She attended Keuka College and graduated magna cum laude with a degree in occupational therapy.
Cockram is currently employed by the Westfield school system as an OT, as a Children's Program Specialist at Patterson Library, the church drama coordinator, organist and accompanist for numerous church choirs and community choruses and as a substitute teacher for Westfield Academy and Central School on top of her summer drama work.
In addition to her professional work, Cockram has been involved in Parent Connection, Westfield Community Kitchen Board, as a volunteer in the school, Spiritual Life coordinator for United Methodist Women, Friends of Education Fund, District Shared Decision Making Team, volunteer at Patterson Library, volunteer for NorthLake Family Recreation Center, accompanist for the singing group "Blest," Vacation Bible Study assistant, science fair judge for Chautauqua
Lake School, accompanist for Westfield's elementary chorus and Zephyr and providing foster care for kittens through the Westfield Stray Cat Rescue.
Cockram also enjoys crafting, helping with school events such as track and soccer banquets and band/Westwinds/musical programs, dance, photography, travel, swimming and anything her kids are involved in. Her favorite season is winter, if it's snowy, but autumn if it's not. She loves rain.
