BROCTON - The Ahira Hall Memorial Library of Brocton presents the Mexican tradition of El Dia De Los Muertos, otherwise known as The Day of the Dead, with art and culture educator Lucy Andrus.
Join Andrus for workshops to prepare decorations and artifacts for the ofrenda to be installed at the library's community celebration of El Dia de los Muertos on Saturday, Nov. 3 starting at 6:30 p.m. All activities to be held at Ahira Hall Memorial Library, 37 Main St., Brocton.
Workshops for all ages to create the decorations and artifacts for our ofrenda and final celebration will be held at the library on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Oct. 10: Overview of the holiday and its traditions, recommended
Oct. 17: Creating calacas, or skeleton figures, to commemorate a departed loved one
Oct. 24: Creating Calaveras, or masks, and other items to decorate the ofrenda
A teen's special Saturday workshop on Oct. 20 starting at 10:30 a.m., will consist of plaster mask casting.
