Kay Barlow will hold an eight-week Music Together class at the Patterson Library in Westfield.

Music Together is an internationally recognized early childhood music program for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and kindergarteners. Central to the Music Together approach is that young children learn best from the powerful role model of parents/caregivers who are actively making music. The program brings families together by providing a rich musical environment in the classroom and by facilitating family participation in spontaneous musical activity at home with the context of daily life.

Barlow is the recipient of the Chautauqua County Early Childhood Award for Excellence in teaching. She began piano lessons at age 4 and has made a career of sharing her love of music with young people. She began teaching early childhood music classes in 2000 and is a Music Together Certified Level I Instructor. Barlow holds an American Orff-Schulwerk Association Level I Certificate and Masters of Music and Bachelor of Music Education degrees. Currently she teaches Music Together classes in her Fredonia studio and maintains a private piano studio. She is a recipient of the Chautauqua County Early Childhood Award for Excellence in teaching.

Space is limited to 14 children. The United Arts Appeal Project Pools grant will cover the instructor's fee. A $40 materials fee per family will be collected to pay for materials, which the family keeps. Scholarships are available upon request of the Patterson Library Director. To register for Music Together or learn more about it, contact the Patterson Library at 326-2154.
