Parkinson's support group at WMH

Westfield Memorial Hospital's Parkinson's Disease Support Group Meeting is held the first Thursday of every month from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Mayville Senior Citizens

The Mayville Senior Citizens Club meet on the first and third Thursdays of the month at the Mayville VFW at noon. All area seniors 55 or older are welcome. Bring a dish to pass and personal table service.

Annual Local Music

Showcase

The ninth annual Local Music Showcase is set to take place on Saturday, Sept. 8 at nine participating venues in downtown Jamestown. Once again, all proceeds will benefit Infinity Visual and Performing Arts, Inc. A total of 40 different acts will be participating in this year's LMS. Participating Venues are Mojos, Shawbucks, The Pub, Labyrinth Press Company, Forte, The Wine Cellar, Suburban Blend, The Reg Studio Theater and Infinity Arts Caf. Pre-sale event tickets can be purchased at Infinity Visual and Performing Arts Center at 115 3rd Street and exchanged for wristbands the evening of the event. Sunday, Sept. 9

Walk Along for Lupus

The Lupus Alliance of Upstate New York will hold its 17th annual Walk Along for Lupus on Sunday, Sept. 9 in the Walden Galleria Mall. Registration is at 8 a.m. and the walk begins at 9 a.m. The registration fee is $20 for adults, $5 for children ages 5 through 12 and free for children under 5. Use the yellow parking entrance. The event will feature a post party with music, face painting, kids crafts, lunch and information tables. For more information, call 835-7161 or register online at www.lupuswalk.org.

Vietnam veterans monthly meeting

Chapter no. 459 Vietnam Veterans of America will hold its monthly meeting on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 11 a.m., at the John T. Murray VFW Post no. 1017, 113 Deer St., Dunkirk. All Vietnam and Vietnam-era personnel are invited.

Westfield Community

Chorus rehearsal

The Westfield Community Chorus will begin its rehearsals on Monday, Sept. 10 from 7 to 9 p.m., in the Westfield First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

New members are always welcome. Anyone who would like to sing and can save Monday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m., should come and share in the fellowship and music. For more information, call Sally Merwin at 326-3419.

Westfield Senior Citizens

The Westfield Senior Citizens meet on the second Thursday of the month at the YWCA Westfield at 6 p.m.

Parkinson's support group at Absolut Care

The Absolut Care of Westfield's Parkinson's Disease Support Group Meeting is held the second Thursday of the month in the Absolut Care Activity Room from 4 to 5 p.m.

Saturday, Sept 22

Chicken and ribs barbecue

The 1891 Fredonia Opera House will hold a chicken and ribs barbecue fundraiser from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22, at the corner of Day and Church Streets as part of the Fredonia Farmers Market. All proceeds benefit the Opera House. BW's Smoking Barrels BBQ, a Taste of Buffalo award-winner, will provide the food for the event. Each meal includes chicken, ribs, chef salad, potato salad and a roll with butter. Tickets to the barbecue, $10 each, and a basket auction will be sold at the Farmers Market for three Saturdays leading up to the event and at the event.

Sunday, Sept. 30

Dollhouse miniatures show and sale

The Western New York Miniature Enthusiasts will hold its 32nd annual show and sale of dollhouse miniatures on Sunday Sept. 20 at Hearthstone Manor, 333 Dick Road in Depew, N.Y. Admission is $4.50 for adults and $2.00 for children under 12. Stroller are allowed, and there will a be door prize. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Food Bank of Western New York.
