WESTFIELD - The Westfield Memorial Hospital Cardiac Services Department will conduct the 25th annual Dr. Robert E. Storms "Walk for Wellness 5K Run/Walk" on Thursday, Sept. 6.
Over the past 24 years, community support for this event has enabled the department to add new services and equipment. All of the monies raised this year will be used to purchase much needed exercise equipment and refurbish the department.
The 5K run/walk will be held in the evening, starting at 6 p.m. Registration for this event will be held at 5:30 p.m., in the lobby of Westfield Memorial Hospital. This year the walkers and runners will be using the Westfield Academy and Central School track. The first 100 participants will receive t-shirts. Blood pressure checks will be available in the hospital lobby. Pledge forms are available in the hospital lobby and at the Cardiac Rehab Department. Checks should be made payable to the Westfield Memorial Hospital. Refreshments and prizes will be given after the walk in the hospital dining room.
Sponsors for the event have been contacted and any other donations are always welcomed. Several sponsors, along with the WMH Auxiliary, have already committed to this event. The WMH Auxiliary is very appreciative of the community support they receive to provide Westfield Memorial Hospital with additional funding to promote its continued growth. Anyone with questions regarding this worthwhile, rewarding event should contact Marie Leone at 326-3766 or any Auxiliary Board member.
