RIPLEY - Aaron Craig, 26, of West Main Road in North East, Pa., was charged with speed not reasonable or prudent and failure to keep right on Wednesday, Aug. 22.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident where a motorcycle and tractor trailer collided head on around 7:30 p.m. Upon arrival and further investigation, it was determined Craig was allegedly operating a motorcycle north on Route 76 and lost control of his motorcycle. Craig was ejected off the motorcycle and the motorcycle hit head on into a passing tractor trailer traveling in the opposite direction, driven by Charles Hall, 58, of Pennsylvania. Craig suffered minor road rash injuries and was treated at the scene. Craig was issued uniform traffic tickets and will appear in Ripley Town Court on a later date.
MAYVILLE - Nathaniel D. Hollins, Jr., 21, of Babcock Street in Silver Creek was arrested on charges of fourth-degree criminal mischief, third-degree criminal tampering and second-degree obstructing governmental administration on Wednesday, Aug. 22.
According to the sheriff's office, while incarcerated in the Chautauqua County Jail on a charge of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, loaded firearm, inmate Hollins is alleged to have sprayed cleaning solution from a spray bottle into two smoke detector heads in the housing unit around 9:30 a.m. This action caused a malfunction in the system and destroyed one of the smoke detector heads. The replacement parts are valued at $150. Hollins was arrested and charged. He will appear in Chautauqua Town Court on a later date.
MAYVILLE - Shane E. Latta, 48, of Potter Road in Mayville was charged with second-degree harassment on Thursday, Aug. 23.
According to the sheriff's office, Latta was charged after an alleged incident at the Kwik Fill in Mayville around 1:30 p.m. It is alleged Latta threatened another person. Latta was issued an appearance ticket and will answer the charge in Chautauqua Town Court on a later date.
RIPLEY - Jason P. Meredith, 33, of West Main Street in Ripley was committed to the Chautauqua County Jail awaiting extradition on charges of fugitive from justice on Thursday, Aug. 23.
According to the sheriff's office, Erie County Court in Pennsylvania issued a bench warrant for failure to appear on Meredith. CCSO and NYS Parole went to Meredith's residence and executed the warrant without incident around 7 p.m. Meredith was arraigned in Ripley Town Court as a fugitive from justice. He was committed to jail and awaits extradition to Pennsylvania.
