The Mayville Senior Citizens Club meet on the first and third Thursdays of the month at the Mayville VFW at noon. All area seniors 55 or older are welcome. Bring a dish to pass and personal table service.

Blood drive in Ripley
Community Blood Bank will be holding a blood drive in Ripley on Friday, Aug. 17 from 2 to 6 p.m. Look for the mobile van near Meeders. Everyone who donates through Friday, Aug. 31 will be entered into a drawing for an all expense paid trip for four to Walt Disney World.

Presentation at the Lawson Boating Heritage Center
The Chautauqua County Historical Society will continue its 2012 programming series on Tuesday, Aug. 21 with a presentation at the Lawson Boating Heritage Center, located on Chautauqua Lake at 73 Lakeside Dr., Bemus Point. The Lawson Center opened earlier this year with a mission to preserve, display and highlight as much of Chautauqua Lake's boating history as possible. In an effort to help promote the boat center, the Chautauqua County Historical Society is inviting the public to attend a presentation on the facility, to be delivered by David S. Lawson, Jr. A tour of the facility will be given afterward. The event will begin at 6 p.m. on Aug. 21 and is free and open to members of the historical society and the general public. The Portland Congregational Church will hold an ice cream social on Wednesday, Aug. 22 from 5 to 7 p.m., at the church on Church Street in Portland. Beef on weck, hot dogs and salads will be the menu. Make-your-own ice cream sundaes for dessert.

Chorus rehearsal
The Westfield Community Chorus will begin its rehearsals on Monday, Sept. 10 from 7 to 9 p.m., in the Westfield First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
