SHERMAN - Centaur Stride Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides therapeutic horseback riding in Sherman, received a few helpful donations this past month.
One such donation came from KISS FM as its sales manager Sherrie Brookmire, left in picture at left, gives Centaur Stride board treasurer Claire Tomassini, right, the proceeds from the 12th annual 106.9 KISS FM Tavern Charity Golf Tournament. The tournament was held recently at South Hills Country Club.
A second donation came by way of the Sports for Kids Golf Tournament, a charity event to raise funds for area youth sporting activities. It recently donated to the Chautauqua Striders. Presenting the check was Neil Robinson, left in picture at right, and accepting the check on behalf of the organization was executive director Deb Kathman, right in picture at right.
The 15th Sports for Kids Tournament will be played on Friday, Sept. 21 at Peek'n Peek Resort. Call 484-1010 for tournament details.
Located in Sherman, Centaur Stride's mission is to provide an inclusive environment of recreational enrichment for persons with and without disabilities. A special effort is made to include the parents and siblings of the children with disabilities who are receiving services in our programs. Riding programs combine therapy and recreation to develop balance, coordination, strength, flexibility,posture and self-confidence. Riding lessons are conducted in an indoor arena or on outdoor trails with well-trained, gentle horses. Lessons are by appointment only. For more information, call 326-4318.
