In depression years many lost their homes. Taxes were so high.
I was 7-years-old when my dad started working for other farmers. As a result I lived in a different community each year.
I went to first grade at the Harmon Hill School Pomfret no. 15. I went to second grade at the Lamberton School. I went to third grade at the no. 9 school in Brocton. I went to fourth grade at the West Portland school. I went to fifth grade at South Ripley school. I went to sixth grade at Sherman school. I went to seventh grade at Ripley school. I went to eighth grade at State Line school. I started high school in Fredonia as I then lived in Lamberton and the Lamberton students went to Fredonia school. Then our schools centralized and I went to Brocton Central School where I graduated in 1942.
I went to 10 different schools in this area in 12 years and I just thought it interesting to share this write up for the Westfield paper.
