RUSSELL, Pa. - Todd Swanson's 84 with a net 62 vaulted his team to first place at the scenic Cable Hollow Golf Course in Russell, Pa., on the par 73 course Monday, July 9.
Other members of the first place team were: Gary Farley, 98 with a 26 handicap for a net 72; Dick Furman, 91, net 78; and Dick Kurek, 81 net, score not counted.
Tim Clute and brother Jim Clute had the only 70's of the day - 77 and 79. Jeff Wagner's 81, Swanson's 84 and Al Muck's 89 were the low gross scores for the day.
Tim Clute shot a four over 77, which included a birdie two on hole no. 2 and a par four on the toughest hole of the course, no. 7. There were a total of 10 fours on his card.
Third place was: Wagner, 81, net 67; Doug Rothwell, 91, net 68; Jim Quinn, 97, net 77; and Mel Allen, score not counted.
Fourth place was claimed by: Jim Clute, who was visiting from Florida; Bob Rogers, 101, net 69; Roger Kolpien, with a birdie two on hole no. 17, but score not used; and Vince Paternosh, 98, net 73.
Fifth place: Jim Sudal, 90, with the only par four on the toughest hole on the second nine in no. 18; John Barone, 105, net 73; Sam Arcadipane, 94, net 73; and Muck's 89, net 73.
The team of Phil Young Gary Nash, Leroy Vahl and Al Newman finished in sixth place. Les Yokom, Glen Eck, Keith Rothwell and Harry Barton finished in last place. Congratulations to Barton who had recently returned from celebrating his and Connie's 50th wedding anniversary.
