WESTFIELD - Westfield Academy and Central School alumni and the public are invited to celebrate and honor classmates, faculty and staff who have passed away.
The fifth annual WACS Spirit Day will be held at the Barcelona Pier on Sunday, July 8 at 11 a.m. Departed classmates, faculty and staff will be recognized by having their names read aloud to the crowd followed by a blue or white balloon being released to the lake winds. Over the past few years, hundreds of deceased friends have been recognized in this special way. It is hoped the number will continue to grow. Balloons will be provided for $1 each and will be biodegradable and helium filled. The name of each honored individual will be announced as the balloon is set free.
Spirit Day is not a religious service, but rather a special way to remember in heart and mind friends who are no longer with us. The hope is every class will be represented and every student or staff member will be remembered by their classmates, friends or family.
Come and talk with old and new friends, surrounded by the beauty of Barcelona Harbor. Celebrate Spirit Day and make this a meaningful new tradition to keep WACS past, present and future alive.
