MAYVILLE - Hats of all kinds, some from times gone by, were the highlight of the Mayville Tuesday Club's annual luncheon and officer installation held at The Sweet Spot on Tuesday, June 5.
President Diane Goodrich had appointed a Hat Committee to judge three categories. The winners were: Rose Marie Mauldon, the prettiest; Jean Kelsey, most original; and Carlene Karl, the oldest, which was a 66-year old bonnet previously owned by June Wilcox, a former long-time club member.
Goodrich also had the honor of presenting Margurite Brightman, 92, with an acknowledgement from the Western New York Federation of Women's Clubs, of which Tuesday is a member, for her many years of membership and to celebrate her being the oldest Tuesday Club member.
Tuesday Club’s 2012-13 officers show off their elegant hats as they are sworn in by Nominating Chair Janice Weitz, right. From left are Shirley Burnett, treasurer; Jean Kelsey, secretary; Diane Goodrich, secretary. Alice Paulus, vice president; could not attend because of a prior commitment.
Also recognized was Mauldon for serving as club treasurer for 15 years.
Janice Weitz, Nominating Committee chair and the club's liaison to WMHFWC, inducted the unanimously approved officers for 2012-13. They are: Goodrich, president; Alice Paulus, vice president and program chair; Jean Kelsey, secretary; and Shirley Burnett, treasurer.
The next meeting is scheduled for 12:30 p.m., Aug. 7 and members are asked to meet at the Mayville Depot, the historical society's site. Anyone interested in visiting or joining the club should call Goodrich at 753-7472.
