WESTFIELD - Austin Alonge, a member of Westfield Academy and Central School's Class of 2012 has signed an athletic scholarship to play baseball at Mercyhurst North East University.
The Mercyhurst NE Saints is in a NJCAA Division II school located in North East, Pa. This past season, the Saints won the Region III title and were ranked as high as 17th in the nation.
Alonge finished his career at Westfield earning Division III Player of the Year honors in 2011 and 2012, All Western New York Honorable Mention 2011 and 2012 and Class C Third Team All State 2011. As catcher and pitcher for the Wolverines this past season, Alonge hit .507 with seven doubles, two triples and three homeruns. He also had a 3-2 record on the mound throwing two no hitters, including one in the sectional semi-final game. In addition The Chautauqua County Baseball Umpires' Association presented him its 2012 scholarship award.

Alonge is looking to pursue a career in occupational therapy.
