RIPLEY - The summer reading program, "Dream Big Read!" will begin at Ripley Free Library on Tuesday, June 26 at 6:30 p.m.

At that time, children will be given their bingo sheets along with any additional paperwork and instructions. This program is open to children entering grades pre-school to sixth grade. Students entering grades seven and eight are also invited to participate while those in grades nine through 12 are encouraged to volunteer. The library looks forward to an exciting summer filled with fun and reading. Call 736-3913 with questions.

Thackeray, the library cat, will be celebrating his birthday on Friday, June 22 when he will be 11 years old. Everyone is invited to stop in for a piece of cake and to wish him the best on his special day. Those who haven't had the chance to meet Thackeray can find him on Facebook at Just Ask or go to Ripley Free Library. He also pops in at the library's blog,

The Ripley Free Library would like to thank the Ripley Community and Heritage Fund for the generous grant it received to purchase a new computer for its patrons. This computer replaces one that had ceased to function. The addition of this computer allows patrons computer access with little or no waiting time.

It would also like to thank everyone who was involved with the annual yard sale. The donations were wonderful, the "crew" was fantastic and the people who stopped to shop were super. Proceeds from the yard sale benefit the summer reading program.
