Sylvia C. Damon Wiltsie, 73, passes away peacefully at her home on June 11, 2012, where she was a life long resident.
She was born to the late Gerald L. and Doris A. Damon on June 19, 1938. It was a Sunday at Jamestown General Hospital. Aunt Ruth was the first to see Sylvia after her parents and nurses and doctor. Sylvia graduated from Panama High School in 1956. She graduated from the School of Practical nursing in 1958. She worked as a nurse at Jamestown General Hospital. Sylvia loved being a homemaker, the farm, living in the country, playing cards, listening to music and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her younger years she was also involved with the women's group at the Abbey Reformed Church.
She is survived by her husband, Roger A. Wiltsie whom she married on Aug. 21, 1951; daughters, Karen (Mike) Jessup of Fort Leavenworth, Kan.; Mary (Bill) Posker of Columbus, Pa., and Diane (Craig) Eaton of Glendale Ariz.; grandchildren, Ashley and Andrea Eaton of Glendale Ariz., Cooper (Keri) Posker of Corry, Pa., Rachel and Shannon Jessup of Fort Leavenworth, Kan.; three great grandchildren, Devyn, Bryce and Ryland of Corry, Pa.; brother, Dick (Ann) Damon of Niobe, N.Y.; two sisters, Kathleen (Dick) Herskind of Orchard Park, N.Y., and Marlene (Maynard) Cotter, of Jamestown, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Vincent Damon, 1998, and her stepmother, Norma Damon.
The funeral was held at 1 p.m., Friday June 15 at the Spitzer Funeral Home in Clymer, N.Y., with the Rev. Stephen Wiggers, officiating. Burial was in Panama Union Cemetery. Friends were received from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service on Friday.
