Plans and speakers have been finalized for commencement ceremonies at local high schools. Valedictorians and Salutatorians are coming up with the right words to say to fellow classmates and some schools will be welcoming back former graduates as keynote speakers.
Below is information on all these ceremonies.
Brocton Central School
BROCTON - The graduation ceremony for Brocton Central School will take place on Saturday, June 23 in new high school gymnasium from 10 a.m. to noon.
The keynote speaker for the commencement will be Holly Erick, a former CLCS graduate and attorney in Buffalo who works with youth. Also speaking will be Valedictorian Olivia Kaltenbach and Salutatorian Brianna Stanton.
Chautauqua Lake Central School
MAYVILLE - The graduation ceremony for Chautauqua Lake Central School will take place on Thursday, June 21 in the district auditorium starting at 7:30 p.m.
Valedictorian Jessica Fortney and Salutatorian Rebecca Silliman will each give a speech, and class advisors Emily Testa and Kristine Stroth will read Senior Commentaries, short introductions written by teachers about the individual graduates. Principal Josh Liddell and Superintendent Ben Spitzer will also speak.
Clymer Central School
CLYMER - The graduation ceremony for Clymer Central school will take place on Friday, June 22 in the student performance center starting at 8 p.m.
The keynote speaker for the commencement will be David Neckers, a former CCS graduate. Also speaking will be Valedictorian Randi Farber and Salutatorian Kaeli Einink.
Panama Central School
PANAMA - The graduation ceremony for Panama Central School will take place on Friday, June 22 in the PCS auditorium starting at 7 p.m.
During the ceremony, Superintendent Bert Lictus will read a statement about each student written by a faculty or staff member of their choice. Also speaking will be Valedictorian Andrea Marsh and Salutatorian Dylan Stow.
Ripley Central School
RIPLEY - The graduation ceremony for Ripley Central School will take place on Saturday, June 23 in the large gymnasium at Ripley school starting at 10 a.m.
The keynote speaker for the commencement will be Dr. Barbara A. Stewart, M.D, a RCS graduate from the Class of 1972. Also speaking will be Valedictorian Zachary Dominic Mota and Salutatorian Samantha Jean Gardner.
Sherman Central School
SHERMAN - The graduation ceremony for Sherman Central School will take place on Friday, June 22 in the John Butler Auditorium starting at 6:30 p.m.
The keynote speaker for the commencement will be Dr. John Swartz. Also speaking will be Valedictorian Micaela Young, Salutatorian David Kelley and Historian Marissa Williams. In addition, various SCS juniors will read a statement about each student written by a faculty or staff member of their choice.
Westfield Academy and Central School
WESTFIELD - The graduation ceremony for Westfield Academy and Central School will take place on Saturday, June 23 on the football field starting at 10 a.m. In case of rain, the ceremony will be held in the auditorium.
The keynote speaker for the commencement will be Matthew Young, a WACS graduate from the Class of 1987. Also speaking will be Valedictorian Alec Freyn and Salutatorian Joseph Marshall.
