Trudy Anderson’s, second from left, third-grade readers at Brocton Central School submitted essays for the Chautauqua County Sports Fishery Advisory Board’s Fishing Essay Contest. Members of the board enjoyed reading 392 essays entered by 12 different schools. Legislator Tom DeJoe, far left, along with Zen Olow, middle in back, and Gene Pauszek, not pictured, from the Chautauqua County Sports Fishery Advisory Board joined County Executive Greg Edwards, far right, in presenting the awards. Tyler Schrader, second from right, and Alaynea Grover, third from left, were two of the winners selected. Alaynea received a Hannah Montana fishing pole kit for her essay. She wrote she loves to fish, but doesn’t like to put the worms on the hook. She feels sorry for the worms. Tyler was given a Shakespeare pole with tackle box for his essay about fishing with his dad. He noted his dad makes fishing fun. Several other students were presented with certificates of honorable mention.
