Carpenters, sheet metal workers unions now accepting apprentices

OLEAN, NY - The Empire State Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee, Local Union No. 66, is conducting recruitment through March 20, 2013 for four carpenter apprentices.

Applications can be obtained at the NYS Department of Labor One-Stop Office, 175 North Union Street, Suite 4, Olean, N.Y., on the third Wednesday of each month, except legal holidays, from 9 a.m. to noon, during the recruitment period.

For further information, applicants should contact their nearest New York State Department of Labor office or the Empire State Carpenters, Local Union No. 66 at (585) 436-1110.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.

JAMESTOWN - The Sheet Metal Workers Joint Apprenticeship Committee, Local Union No. 112, Jamestown Area, is conducting a recruitment through March 20, 2013 for three sheet metal worker apprentices.

Applications will be available at Local Union No. 112, 827 East 2nd Street in Jamestown on the third Wednesday of the month from 9 to 11:30 a.m., excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period.
