A Quilter's Challenge, competition between guild members, will offer quilters the opportunity to go beyond the familiar and comfortable. This year's challenge is entitled "21 Brix" which of course is the name of the winery where our show will be held. 21 Brix represents the highest sugar content of grapes used in wine making. Challenge quilts could not be bigger than 120 inches in circumference. In this particular challenge, the quilter also needed to meet two of the following criteria -an elephant, grapes or 21 brix.

In addition, the Westfield Quilt Show will feature a raffle quilt to benefit the guild. The quilt was featured on the cover of American Patchwork and Quilting magazine in October 2011. Joan Leopold and Barb Chall co-chaired the raffle quilt committee. The quilt is a traditional country star pattern which features scrappy Kansas Troubles' material and will fit a queen size bed. Jean Berg machine quilted the quilt. Tickets for the raffle quilt are $1 or 6 for $5.

The quilt show will also feature six vendors, quilt appraisals, door prizes and guild cookbooks. These cookbooks are a compilation of guild member recipes. Parking is free, the building is air-conditioned and the winery is open to the public.
