WILLIAMSPORT, PA - Victoria Parker of Mayville, a senior archeology and theatre major, was recognized as a Lycoming Scholar during Honors Convocation on April 15.

Students are admitted to the Lycoming Scholar Program based on high school achievement. Scholars must complete higher-level distribution courses and attend interdisciplinary seminars each semester, as well as complete an independent project during their junior or senior year.

OSWEGO, N.Y. - Several local residents completed their baccalaureate studies this year at SUNY Oswego.

The following local residents with their academic major were eligible to participate in ceremonies May 12 for the college's 151st Commencement:

Stephen D. Travis of Bear Lake Road in Brocton, meteorology, cum laude

Christina M. Logel of Webster Road in Portland, psychology

Emily A. Swartz of Dewittville, psychology

Students who graduate with honors are indicated by the traditional Latin phrases summa cum laude, with highest honor grade averages of 3.8 to 4.0; magna cum laude, with great honor grade averages of 3.6 to 3.79; and cum laude, with honor grade averages of 3.30 to 3.59.

PITTSBURGH - Michael E. Testrake has graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor's Degree in architecture.

Testrake is the son of Cynthia (Testrake) Seblink, the late Robert C. Testrake and step-son of Kevin R. Seblink. They live on Union Street in Westfield. Michael is a 2008 graduate of Westfield Central School.

Testrake graduated with the honor of obtaining membership on the Dean's List from the spring term of 2009-10 until the present. He is a member of the American Institute of Architectural Students, University of Pittsburgh Chapter, 2009-12. Testrake is also a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, 2009-12.

Testrake was accepted into and will be attending the Masters of Architecture program at Ohio State with a graduate assistantship.

HOLLAND, Mich. - Brittany Steeg, daughter of James and Susanne Steeg, Westfield, recently received a Bachelor of Arts degree in dance education from Hope College. Commencement exercises were held Sunday, May 6.

MARLBORO, Vt. - Trevor Theodore Rickenbrode, from Ripley, graduated from Marlboro College in Marlboro, Vt. with a B.A. in writing and literature on Sunday, May 13.

HERKIMER, N.Y. - April J. Troup of Clymer recently received a AA in Liberal Arts and Sciences: General Studies from Herkimer County Community College. Troup is one of 727 candidates who participated in the College's 44th annual commencement ceremony on Friday, May 18.

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The State University of New York at New Paltz held its undergraduate commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 20. Raisa Aguilar, a resident of Westfield, participated in the ceremony. Aguilar will receive BA in sociology.

UTICA, N.Y. - Rachael Lee Missel of Westfield recently graduated with honors from Utica College in Utica, NY with a B.S. in health studies.

ALFRED, N.Y. - Cody Gleason, a resident of Ashville, N.Y., received a Bachelor of Arts Cum Laude in chemistry, from the College Liberal Arts/Sciences at Alfred University during Commencement exercises Saturday, May 12 in McLane Center on the AU campus.

Gleason is the son of Steven and Rachele Gleason and a graduate of Chautauqua Lake Central School.

BEREA, Ohio - Adam Brown participated in the 162nd commencement ceremonies at Baldwin-Wallace College, according to Dr. Mary Lou Higgerson, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College. Brown, from Portland, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
