Westfield Post Office takes part in ‘Stamp Out Hunger’ drive

May 30, 2012
Barbara Brooker , Westfield Republican / Mayville Sentinel News

On Saturday, May 12, the Westfield Post Office again participated in the National Association of Letter Carriers "Stamp Out Hunger" program which benefits the Westfield Food Pantry.

We cannot begin to thank our local post office personnel for their efforts in supporting this program. There are post offices that do not participate, therefore we want to take this opportunity to publicly thank the Westfield Postal Service, Post Mistress, office personnel and especially the rural and village carrier who collect donations on their routes and return it to the post office for count and distribution.

This year workers at the food pantry picked up and shelved the contents of 40 postal bins chock full of a wonderful assortment of non-perishable food items - donated by this wonderful community - to support those who are in need of the service which the food pantry provides.

I would like to personally thank those volunteers who give their time in service to others. Thanks to Keith and Janny Rothwell, Mel and Judy Allen, Brittany Jones, Chuck Quick, Dave, Marc, Christopher and Jena Brooker, and Damian Raynor. It is wonderful to have young people interact with "the older generation," I think we both learn a lot.
