WESTFIELD - On a monthly basis, Westfield Middle School honors one student at each grade level as the Student of the Month. Teachers and staff had the opportunity to nominate one student who they believed met the following criteria: follows Westfield's Rules of Respect for staff and peers; shows outstanding effort and improvement or shows achievement and consistent high scores on tests, quizzes and projects; prepared daily to participate in all classes; serves as a positive role model for peers; and demonstrates a positive attitude and good citizenship.
Three students were selected as a Student of the Month for the month of March.
The sixth grade recipient is Julio Lebron. In school, Julio enjoys his physical education class as he likes to be active and participate in the games played. In his spare time, he enjoys playing basketball, fishing with his dad and taking walks with his grandma and grandpa. Julio credits his parents with teaching him the value of hard work and using this he hopes to continue to do well in school and possibly play in the National Basketball Association someday.
Max Bates received this honor for the seventh grade. In school, he enjoys his social studies and language arts classes and hopes to use the skills learned in these classes in his future career. As a hobby, he enjoys many outdoor activities including running and football. One goal he has for the future is to attend college at Pennsylvania State University and enter a sports related career field.
At the eighth grade level, Joey Quagliana received this honor. In school, he enjoys his science and social studies classes as they are both very interesting. Outside of the classroom, Joey enjoys playing football and baseball, both of which are fun and allow him to spend time with his friends. In the future he hopes to earn a college scholarship and become a catcher at a division one school.
The Westfield School and community offer their congratulations to these outstanding students.
