What a treat to sit again
In the sun with gentle breeze
Renew my place upon a bench
Glad it's not another day of freeze
Well, so much for the gentle breeze
Have to move to sheltered steps
To muse upon the feel of spring
Though winter hasn't really crept
Once a week the temps sink low
Followed by warm ups and rain
Then another threat of snow
But doesn't really come or remain
Sit awhile and pen some more
About the barren ground and naked trees
Waiting on some greenery
To return some sinew to their wooden limbs
So much for this short lament
Of the coming days of spring
Waiting for more sun and shade
And what other pleasant days will bring
