Frances M. Himelein, 86, of 125 Church Street in Sherman, N.Y., died Friday May 4, 2012, at Absolut of Westfield.
She was born Aug. 6, 1925 in Wattsburg, Pa., the daughter of the late Jesse and Elma Hyde Emory.
Frances was a 1944 graduate of Clymer Central School. Before she met her husband William, she worked at Erie Resistor during World War II. She also worked in local businesses in Findley Lake. Frances was a former member of the Acacia Chapter, No. 96 O.E.S., Sherman, N.Y., Fern Rebekahs, Findley Lake, N.Y., DAR, Jamestown, N.Y., and the XYZ's in Finley Lake. She was a lifelong member of the Findley Lake Fireman's Auxiliary. And attended the Mina CMA Church. She is survived by three sons, David (Joan) Himelein, and William (fiance, Kirstin) Himelein both of Findley Lake, N.Y., and Richard (Ann) Himelein of Murrysville, Pa.; daughter, Linda (Ernest) Roache of Sherman, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William D. Himelein, whom she married March 7, 1946 and died Feb. 26, 1997; one son, G. Vernon Himelein, July 26, 2006; one grand-daughter, Wendy K. Himelein, Oct. 10, 1996; five sisters, Bernice Messenger, Bertha Thompson, Myrtle Pardoe, Mabel Young and AnnaBelle Jeffers; and three brothers, Walter, John and Robert Emory.
Friends were received Monday, May 7 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Spitzer Funeral Home Sherman, N.Y. The funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday May 8 at the funeral home, with Pastor William Nicholson, officiating. Burial was in Mina Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Stanley Hose Co.
