MAYVILLE - Marylou Blakeslee, 74, of Sebring, Fla., and Jamestown, formerly of Ashville, died Sunday (April 29, 2012) in Sebring.
She was born Sep. 3, 1937 in Chatham, Canada, the daughter of the late Edmond and Elsie Shaw Blue.
Marylou had been a Home Health Care Aid with Chautauqua Opportunities Inc., prior to retiring. She was a member of Open Meadows United Methodist Church, Harmony Historical Society and the North Harmony Senior Citizens.
Marylou's life revolved around her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Otis W. Blakeslee whom she married Oct. 1, 1955 at her family home in Ashville, and they renewed their vows in 2005; four children, Sheila (Cordell) Ribblett, Elaine (Edward) Wolfe with whom they lived with during the summer months, Scott Blakeslee, and Tim (Mary) Blakeslee all of Jamestown; 11 grandchildren, Cheri (Mike) Bartok, William (Katie) Phelps, Joshua Ribblett, Jessica Ribblett, Joseph (Michele) Neubauer, Jonathon (Nikki) Neubauer, Joshua Paddock, Carrie (Tyler) Snow, Ashley Blakeslee, Tim Blakeslee, Jr., and Kelly Blakeslee; 30 great grandchildren; a brother, Larry Blue of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and a sister Barbra Taber of Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jacob Chapman and Michelle Blakeslee.
The funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Monday, May 7 in the Freay Funeral Home, Mayville. Pastor John Bowen of the Open Meadows United Methodist Church officiated. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Spartansburg, Pa. The family received friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to The American Heart Association.
