SHERMAN Richard L. Chase, 71, of 148 West Main Street, Sherman, died Thursday (April 19, 2012) in St. Vincent's Hospital, Erie, Pa.

He was born July 6, 1940 in Corry, Pa., the son of the late John and Blanche Parkhurst Chase.

He attended Sherman Central School, class of 1958, graduated from Teteboro School of Aeronautics and worked for Kamen Helicopter Company, American Airlines and the Chautauqua County Highway Department. He assisted on Chautauqua County Sheriff's helicopter program and then established a large-scale antique sale business of 43 years with many close friends and associates, where he then slowly began to retire from the business.

Richard will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carol Heintz Chase, his son, Lane Chase, and his two granddaughters, Rachel and Gwen Chase.

Richard's wishes were to not have a memorial service. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, April 23 in the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Stanley Hose Company, 122 Park Street, Sherman, N.Y. 14781.
