Sitting on some holy steps
With the church in back to break the wind
Somewhere dry to sit a spell
And muse upon the new April showers
Heard the thunder claps last night
Though in the shelter saw no light
But outside felt the drizzled wind
As I ventured out in it
Went to check my favorite dives
To see what goods were left for me
Besides the coupons and/or news
And other goodies to take back home
Maybe salads, subs, or bites
Or even snacks or jugs of drinks
Some in need of grappling hook
Others to have to venture in
But here beside the park I sit
To watch the squirrels in running play
Certain sign that spring's arrived
After the advent of April showers
Again to end this ode to spring
Now that it's warm enough to sit a spell
To watch the wind blow naked limbs
Awaiting for their chance to bloom
