Claudia E. Lewis, 84, of 155 Robert Dr., Salisbury, N.C., formerly of Lakewood, N.Y., passed away at 2:28 p.m., Saturday (April 7, 2012) in Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, N.C.
A lifelong area resident, she was born May 11, 1927 in the town of Chautauqua, daughter of the late Frederick O. Curtis, Sr., and Ruth Mae Tanner Curtis.
She was an avid roller-skater for most of her life. She will always be remembered for the love she put into her knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching and sewing for her family. She was a member of the Chautauqua County Rebekah Lodge and had served as the District Deputy. She had a real love of the vineyard, tying and picking grapes in her early years.

She was in the loving care of her daughter, Peggy, whom she made her home with for the last 4 1/2 yrs in North Carolina.
Surviving are two daughters, Brenda Foti of Kennedy, and Peggy Pullan (Jeff) of Salisbury, N.C.; a niece, Linda Leonard of Jamestown, whom she thought of as a daughter; six grandchildren, Sheri Meyer-Vereszadeh of California, Mark Meyer of South Carolina, Matthew Meyer of Kentucky, Timothy Foti of Jamestown, Laurel (Chris) McKotch of Jamestown and Lindsey (Chris) Talley of Georgia; three great-grandchildren, Carter McKotch, Austin McKotch and Kian Vereszadeh.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold Curtis, Charles Curtis, Frederick Curtis, Jr., and two sisters, Twyla Cooper and Laura Wood.
She was the widow of Frank Lewis, who passed away April 14, 1990.
The funeral was at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 14 in the Falconer Funeral Home. Burial was in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Lakewood. Friends were received one hour prior to the funeral service Saturday in the funeral home. Visit www.falconerfuneralhome.net to light a candle in remembrance.
