RIPLEY - Lindsey M. McLaughlin, 24, of Bargain Road in McKean, Pa., was charged with inadequate head lights and third degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Saturday, March 31.

According to the sheriff's office, McLaughlin was allegedly stopped on Burton Street in the Town of Ripley for having only one working headlight. Further investigation revealed McLaughlin's operating status is New York State was allegedly suspended on Sept. 8, 2011 and again on Dec. 18, 2011, neither of which have been restored. McLaughlin was taken into custody and later released with appearance tickets.

SHERMAN - Cody L. Bowen, 18, of Grant Avenue in Erie, Pa., was charged with false personation and underage possession of alcohol, and Anthony S. Forne, 19, of Zimmerly Road in Erie, Pa., was charged with underage possession of alcohol on Monday, April 2.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies responded to a reported underage drinking party. Deputies allegedly located an occupied vehicle on Klondyke Road in the Town of Sherman a short distance from the party parked on the shoulder of the road. A quantity of alcohol was allegedly located within the vehicle. Both occupants were allegedly under the age of 21. Bowen allegedly attempted to provide a false identity to investigating deputies repeatedly and was charged accordingly.

PORTLAND - Three people were injured in a two-car motor vehicle accident on Route 20 in Brocton between Walden Road and Highland Avenue around 3 p.m., Monday, April 2.

According to the county Sheriff's Department Hobart Damico of Brocton had pulled off Route 20 on the North side of the road to check his mailbox. He then turned across Route 20 into the path of the vehicle driven by Alice Waters of Ripley. Damico and his passenger Fae Damico were transported to Erie County Medical Center by Starflight while Waters was transported to Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk. The Sheriff's Department was assisted by the Brocton, Stockton, and Portland fire departments on the scene. Route 20 was closed in both directions while the accident was investigated and the road cleared of debris.

Damico was ticketed for an improper and unsafe turn.
