Students from pre-kindergarten through grade six enjoyed a morning of healthy activities on Wellness Day, March 15 at Chautauqua Lake Central School. Guest instructors and school staff presented hands-on sessions on such topics as yoga, hand washing, sportsmanship, dance and recreational sports. Pictured are second and fourth graders learning about healthy snacks from visit chef Brian Stahlsmith, who stressed the importance of eating a wide variety of foods in moderation. He told students tastes change, so even if they tried a particular food once and did not care for it, they should try again. The children later enjoyed a snack of fresh vegetables with ranch dressing. Guest speaker Lyle Leach taught other groups about healthy snacks. Other guest speakers were Julie Logan, Bob Gould, Christine Peterson and Cindy Keefe. The Wellness Day activities were coordinated by the School Health Advisory Committee, chaired by assistant principal Beth Olson.
