Panama remains no. 11 in state rankings

SYRACUSE - Panama (18-3) remained No. 11 in the New York State Sportswriters Association Class D boys' basketball poll.

Jamestown (18-3), although losing a heart-breaking 48-45 decision to Niagara Falls, stayed No. 23 in Class AA. Niagara Falls (17-4) moved up four spots to No. 15 in a bracket headed up by defending champion Mount Vernon (20-2) of Section 1.

Silver Creek (20-1) is now No. 5 in Class C and Maple Grove (17-4) No. 9. Tuckahoe (21-0) of Section 1 is No. 1.

Olean (20-1) continues to pace Class B with Watervliet (21-1) the runnerup.

In girls' basketball, Clymer (17-1) is ranked No. 4 in Class D. The Lady Pirates face No. 2 and undefeated Elba (19-0) of Section 5 in the Far West regional game at Finger Lakes Community College at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Randolph (15-3) is No. 15 in Class C and faces No. 25 Perry (17-3) of Section 5 for Far West Regional honors at 6 p.m. today at Finger Lakes CC.

Frewsburg (15-3) is No. 13 in Class C.

Jamestown (13-3) is tied for No. 25 with Fayetteville-Manlius (17-3) in Class AA headed by USA top 20 Cicero-North Syracuse (17-3) of Section 3.
