Varsity golfers and their coaches from Ripley, Panama and Chautauqua Lake Central Schools volunteered four hours of labor on Saturday, March 17 to pick up sticks, branches and other winter debris to prepare the Chautauqua Golf Course for the coming season. Trevor Burlingame, head grounds keeper at CGC, supervised the effort. Coaches Justin Akin of Ripley, Ed Nelson of Panama and Mike Cummings of Chautauqua Lake organized the event to provide the student-athletes with an opportunity to “give back.” The athletes were treated to doughnuts in the morning and pizza for lunch. The teams hope to make Golf Work Day an annual event.
