BROCTON - The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office is investigating more than 15 larcenies from vehicle complaints occurring between March 2 and March 17. These larcenies have occurred primarily in the Village of Brocton and the Town of Portland. All larcenies from vehicles during this time frame have occurred from unlocked vehicles.
Taken from the vehicles have been primarily loose change, paper money, jewelry and electronics. The larcenies have occurred both overnight and during the morning hours on private property and places of employment.
The Sheriff's Office encourages residents to take the time and lock their vehicles any time the vehicle is left unattended. The Sheriff's Office further encourages residents not to leave valuables and personal effects in their vehicles overnight whether at their residence or place of employment.
Residents are asked to quickly report to law enforcement any suspicious activity as it relates to the above activity.
To date, deputies recovered three knives that may have been taken from vehicles during these larcenies. Anyone with information regarding these items or any of the larcenies is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office Investigation Division.
