Jack Pike,77, of 2362 W. Lake Rd., Ashville, N.Y., passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2012 at his home.
He was born on April 8, 1934 in Busti, N.Y., the son of the late Oliver and Vearl (Mason) Pike.
Jack had worked for Tri-James Services, in Ashville, N.Y., for over 50 years. He lived to hunt and fish. He enjoyed woodworking, especially whittling. He enjoyed traveling around the area and seeing different things and places people talked about, and also enjoyed his coffee time with his buddies. Jack loved spending time with his family, and helping out where he was needed.
Jack is survived by his daughter Jackie (Stork) Courtney of Sherman, N.Y.; grandsons Josh (Ashley), Michael (Kie) and Austin Courtney; granddaughter Kelly (Fred) Gable; great grandchildren Colton, Carlie, Cadence, Hunter all of Sherman, N.Y.; brothers Bud (Deb), Bill (Tina) Pike both of Ashville, N.Y.; and sister Judy (John) Fiero of Ashville, N.Y. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Pike, grandparents Beverley and Jenny Mason and William and Marie Pike and uncle George (Buss) Mason.
The family received friends at Spitzer Funeral Home, Sherman, N.Y., on Monday, Feb. 27 from 7 to 9 p.m., and also for one hour prior to the service, which was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28 at the funeral home with Pastor Roger Westley of the Sherman Community Church officiating.
